We are seeking to hire a qualified individual to become our Grooming Manager (NOC 0651 - Manager, Pet Grooming Services) for our two locations. You will spend one day a week at 1872 Danforth Avenue (between Woodbine & Coxwell stations), and 4 days a week at 2211 Gerrard Street East (Upper Beaches). This is a full-time contract position for two years, after which we will look to renegotiate the terms of the contract. You will answer directly to the owner of both businesses, Carolyn

You will be paid $50,000 per year, based on working 30 hour work weeks, 5 days a week, with 10 days paid vacation every year, or 4% vacation pay in lieu of days off.

As Grooming Manager, you will be tasked with growing the business across both locations and over various revenue streams, including:

Grooming/Pet Spa - add-ons (teeth, grinding of nails)

Daycare - 50 spots to fill, with 35-40 on average (the number is capped based on size of pack)

Retail - this will be one of the areas the new manager will focus on developing and expanding, having a direct tie-in to existing grooming clients

Dog training - (currently 2-3 nights per week, with another 2-3 nights per week possible)

Seminars and wellness facility - organizing events, increasing frequency, and monetizing events

Technical Skills

- minimum of 3 years of Dog Grooming Experience at a Groomer level with the ability to groom all breeds (including hand scissoring)

- minimum of 3 years of customer facing experience through grooming consultations, prior to groom

- minimum of 1 year of experience at a managerial level, including training grooming assistants

- minimum of 2 years of experience in a pet retail environment which would be attached to grooming studio

- minimum of 6 months experience with K9III variable speed dryer

- minimum of 6 months experience with 123 Pets which includes online booking of appointments

- must be able to lift 50 lbs

- must be able to work independently

- must be able to work in a fast paced environment with a positive and calm attitude

- must be patient

- must have high standards of cleanliness and professionalism

- must be able to work with all dog behaviours

- must have superior communication and customer service skills and be comfortable discussing pet needs with their guardians (personal experience discovering potential health problems, such as ear infections, skin abnormalities, etc)

- above all, MUST LOVE DOGS
